SUMMARY
The connection of functions of living and work was obvious in the past. In the period of nationalisation, the segregation of these two functions was preferred. This topic has become part of recent social and economic changes in our society. The future process of connection of these two functions will, however, be different from to what it was in the past. It will be more specified on different levels, namely in housing zones of small, middle and large urban areas. In large urban areas, the polyfuntional aspect is included in central locations as well as in satellite parts. Integration of the functions of living and work is a typical aspect of apartment blocksm family houses and a single apartment as well. This can be expressed by a term “polyfunctioning” of housing areas.
